Message from HOD

The Department of Microbiology started functioning in 2009. The Central laboratory of Microbiology is unique in the sense that it is the only lab department which deals with Environmental samples like water, air etc apart from patients” samples  for diagnostic purposes. A newly built open PCR system lab is available with state of the art facilities alongwith a  NABL accredited closed PCR system for carrying out Covid 19 RT-PCR test. The laboratory  regularly participates in External Quality Assurance scheme( EQAS)

For undergraduates and postgraduate students  more emphasis is laid  on Clinical Microbiology . Undergraduates are motivated to take up   Research projects under ICMR and we are proud to say that our dept bags the maximum number of projects in each year.

The Teaching faculty are encouraged to pursue Ph.D  under SRM University and one Associate Professor was awarded Ph.D in the convocation held in the last week of December 2020
