OVERVIEW
The Department of Dentistry, TSRMMCH & RC is a tertiary care centre providing oral health care services to Trichy, Tanjore, Nagai, Pudukottai and Ariyalur Districts. We create a competent and socially responsible system by providing quality dental care and progressive research with up to-date technology.
The Department embraces different Specialties including Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry, Orthodontics, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology and Prosthodontics.
The department has a Memorandum of understanding with SRM Dental College & Hospital, Ramapuram, Chennai.
The department aims at creating dental awareness in the remotest of the villages around the centre. The department has a regular input of an average of 65 to 70 patients. All the patient treatment procedures are done by clinically competent faculty members
PEDIATRIC AND PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY
- This specialty dental unit operates with the motto of providing comprehensive dental care to children through adolescence and those with special health care needs.
- The unit has separate consultation & treatment unit which has been specially designed for the compliance of children and those with special needs
Those with special health care needs includes children with dyslexia, attention deficit, hyperactivity, cerebral palsy and are attended by trained personnel and given utmost care empathetically.

- Preventive resin restorations
- Pit &fissure sealants
- Pulp therapy
- Stainless steel crowns
- Aesthetic crowns(strip crowns)

- Myofunctional appliances
- Corrective early orthodontic therapy
- We also do comprehensive dental procedures for unco-operative children under sedation/general anesthesia. We have a pediatric OP census of about 1500-2000 per year.
ORTHODONTICS AND DENTOFACIAL ORTHOPEDIC DENTISTRY
- This specialty dental unit operates with the motto of providing comprehensive orthodontic care to adolescents and adults.
- The unit has separate consultation & treatment unit and provision for taking lateral cephalograms and orthopantamogram as well.
- Functional appliance therapy and orthognathic correction of skeletal discrepancies are done apart from fixed appliance therapy for correction of dental irregularities.
- Each patient under orthodontic care is treated for an average duration of 1.5- 2years with monthly/bi-monthly recalls.
