World Kidney Day 2021 – Workshop on Hemodialysis Hydraulics and Hardware

In commemoration of world kidney day 2021, the Department of Nephrology, TSRMMCH organized a workshop on hemodialysis hardware and hydraulics on 17/3/2021 at BC Roy Hall, TSRMMCH.

The inaugural function began with as scheduled at 9.00 AM with Thamil Thai Valthu.

Dr SP.S.Subrahmanian,MD., DM Assistant Professor of Nephrology welcomed the gathering.

Dean, TSRMMCH, Dr. S.Revwathy MD., DGO., DNB., delivered the Presidential address. Deputy Director, Trichy Campus, Dr.N.BalaSubramanian MD., DD., delivered the key note address. Principal, Allied Health Sciences, Ms.T.Shirmil delivered the special address.

Executive Director, Trichy campus Dr.S.Raghupathy MBA.,FRM. CQF., Director of Medical Science Dr.S.Ramesh Babu MBBS., M.Phil, Medical Superintendent Dr.R.Vijayakumaran Ms., D.Ortho and Vice Principal, TSRMC Dr. Uma MD., offered felicitation.

Bio-Medical engineers from Fresenius Medical Company Mr.Jeyaraman, Mr.Nallivimalan, and Mr.Somasundaram participated as resource persons for the workshop and they were felicitated by the administrators of TSRMMCH.

The inaugural function was attended by Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors and residents from other departments of TSRMMCH and AHS Dialysis Technology students (first year, second year and third year)

Dr.Ishwarya MD., DM., Nephrologist delivered the vote of thanks.

The scientific session consisted of lectures in the forenoon session which included the following topics:

The afternoon session was held at Hemodialysis room, Department of Nephrology, TSRMMCH. From 2.00 Pm to 4.00 PM.

48 AHS students of  BSc Dialysis Technology course from first to third year participated in the workshop. The workshop consisted of live demonstration of internal circuits, hardware and hydraulics of hemodialysis machine at two stations by bio-medical engineers from Fresenius Medical Company (FMC). Mr.Jeyaraman, Mr.Nallivimalan and Mr.Somasundaram from FMC demonstrated the circuits to our students.

Students were also demonstrated Body Composition Monitoring by Bio Impedance Analysis at two stations.

The workshop aimed at providing skill based training to dialysis technology students to make them competent in handling technical issues related to hardware of hemodialysis machine.
