REPORT WORLD AIDS DAY OBSERVATION

World AIDS Day,  one of the most widely recognized international health days was a key opportunity to create awareness and celebrate victories such as increased access to treatment and prevention services.

The Dermatology, Microbiology, College of Nursing and Campus Life of SRM TRICHY CAMPUS observed WORLD’S AIDS DAY on 30^th November 2019, under the patronage and guidance of our Chairman Dr.R.Shivakumar.

An awareness rally was taken out by the students and officials of Trichy SRM to mark World AIDS Day by carrying placards and banner. The rally began at 1.30 PM in the Campus. Around 350 students participated.

Then the formal program started with Tamilthai vaazhthu at  2.10 p.m., at B C ROY Hall, 2^nd Floor Trichy SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Center )TSRMMCHRC) in the Campus. Dr.A.Anupriya, Microbiologist delivered the welcome address. The campus Executive Director Dr.S.Raghupathy presided over the function, and the Deputy Director Dr N.Balasubramanian, Dr.Ramachandra Goyal, Head- Community Health Services and Dr.P.Karthick AMS,

The Special guest was Mrs Tamil, Director, Network of Positive People in Trichy &Care and Support Centre for PLHIV (a motivational speaker on AIDS) graced the occasion and delivered the special address. While she was addressing she shared her obstacles in creating awareness and conducting programmes on AIDS. She strongly insisted that young people should recognize the effort that is needed for this hour to help and achieve an AIDS-free generation. Mrs D.Manimegalai, Campus Life Coordinator proposed a vote of thanks.

Mrs.Suja Suresh, Vice Principal of Nursing college, Dr.M.Prabakaran, the Dean Administration Campus, HoDs and faculty of various departments graced the function. Students from TRICHY SRM College of Nursing performed a wonderful mime show with a strong impact message about AIDS. After prize distribution for Poster Presentation, Essay Writing and Slogan Writing the program ended with National Anthem.
