The Medical Education Unit and IPR committee of Trichy SRM Medical College had organized a Faculty development program on “Intellectual property rights” on 17.09.2021. The conception of an idea for such an innovative program was by our Honorable Chairman, Dr.R.Shivakumar which was successfully executed by the chairperson of MEU and IPR- Dr. S. Revwathy (Dean). Guidance for organizing the program was given by Dr.E.Kamala, Associate Professor of Anatomy and MEU Coordinator. Guest lecture was given by Mrs. Elizabeth Puthran, who is a Patent Attorney of Puthran and Associates, from Chennai. The program lasted from 2 pm to 3:00 pm.
The Inaugural ceremony started with Thamizh Thai vazhthu and a welcome speech by Dr. S. Revwathy, Dean of Trichy SRM Medical college Hospital and Research Centre. The guest speaker was introduced by Dr. B. Venkatachalapathy, Dean Research of SRM group of Institutions. Session was started by the guest speaker with the introduction of importance of IPR in healthcare industry, types of IPR highlighting on Copyrights and patents. It was followed by sensitization on the filing process, duration of protection, infringements and about prior art search. Session was concluded with special mention on Convertibility & Commercialization (Technology transfer) and encouraged the participants to register more IPR in Institutes name in future. The FDP was brought to an end with the feedback and questioning session from the participants. Dr. A. Suguna, Associate Professor of Community Medicine and IPR coordinator thanked one and all for their participation and valuable inputs. |
