REPORT OF THE EVENT
ADR Monitoring Centre for Pharmacovigilance Program of India (PvPI) attached to the Department of Pharmacology organized the “National Pharmacovigilance week Celebration” – A Step towards Patient Safety from 17th September to 23rd September. It’s been monitored by Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, MoHFW, Government of India, Ghaziabad.
On 21st September 2021 at Dr.B.C Roy Hall (Hospital Block ) from 4.00-5.00PM an event was organized.
Welcome Address was delivered by Dr.S.Vijayaragan, Professor and HOD, Department of Pharmacology.
Dean of the institute, Dr.S.Revwathy, Presided over the function and gave speech on Pharmacovigilance Week Celebration. She further mentioned that the ADR should be Monitored by the Physician and Staff Nurses, which should be reported to pharmacology department. She also gladly informed that our Trichy SRM Medical college hospital and Research Centre have got an Authority on monitoring the ADR and informing to National Pharmacovigilance Centre at Ghaziabad.
The event was felicitated by Deputy Director Dr.N.Balasubramanian. He addressed about the frequent adverse Drug reaction occurring in the Dermatology Department in the OP and IP Patients, which should be vigil enough to inform and prevent further reaction.
Director of Medical Sciences, Dr.S.Ramesh Babu, informed that the ADR occurring in the Patients should be notified to the Pharmacology Department and also gave a speech about Prescription writing He also insisted that all prescriptions should be in Capital Letter and in Generic Name.
Medical Superintendent Dr.R.Vijayakumaran and Additional Medical Superintendent Dr.P.Karthic, congratulated the organizing committee and wished them a grand success.
Coordinator of Pharmacovigilance Dr.K.Kanagasanthosh, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology, elobarated the theme of the Celebration of National Pharmacovigilance Week. He further discussed about the salient features to be implemented in the community. The following points were identified,
- Awareness of pharmacovigilance to all health workers,
- Sensitization programe to health care workers
- Quiz, slogan contest, Drawing contest and photography contest for students and health care workers,
- Innovative approach for patient safety.
As part of the Celebration, the Department Of Pharmacology conducted competition to 2nd Year MBBS Students on 20th September afternoon 2 to 5pm. The following contest was held:
- Quiz contest,
- Slogan Contest,
- Drawing Contest,
- Photography Contest among the Second Year MBBS Students.
The Best three of each group were selected for the prizes and Medals.
On the Day of valedictory Program, distinguished Delegates appreciated the participants and the winners. Medals and certificate were distributed to the individual Students who participated in the contest.
At the end of the programme Pharmacovigilance Notifier Dr.K.Uma Mageshwari, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology gave the Vote of Thanks.
