International day of Differently abled – Dec. 2019
International day of differently-abled was observed on 3rd Dec. every year. The Department of Occupational Therapy and campus life jointly conducted various programmes on 7th Dec.2019. Around 45 children from Poornodhaya a Special School for differently-abled, were invited to the programme. Nursing College students conducted a variety of games and competitions for children with Autism, Mental retardation, Cerebral palsy and Downs’ syndrome. Children actively participated in the events and enjoyed the whole programme.
The official prize distribution programme was graced by Chief Guest Ms.P.Kalaiarasi, Founder and Director of Poornodhaya special school. Dr.D.Suresh.,PhD, Dean, Occupational Therapy, welcomed the gathering and Dr.S.Raghupathy, MBA., PhD.., Executive Director, Trichy campus and Dr.N.Balasubramanian, MD., DD., Deputy Director, Trichy Campus, Dr.A.Jesudoss., MD., DLO., Dean, Trichy Medical College Hospital & Research centre felicitated the gathering. Mrs Vishva Manimegalai, Campus life coordinator delivered the vote of thanks. Gifts were distributed to all the children and other differently-abled who attended the programme. Special prices were given to the winners of the competitions by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. Children with special needs performed various cultural programmes like a mime, dance etc. The programme ended with lunch for all the children, parents and teachers who attended the programme. Totally 50 special children, 5 spinal cord injured patients, 9 special educators, 10 parents participated in the programme. View Photos
