15th YOGA FEST AND COMPETTION
PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
Yoga is an invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition. It embodies the unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature and a holistic approach to health and well-being. Yoga is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with ourselves, the world and Nature.
A successive third time of yoga festival and the competition was conducted on our campus. In this year, on 9th November 2019, it was conducted at Easwari Auditorium between 9.30 and 05.pm. This event was jointly organized by the Department of Physical Education and Yoga & Trichy Regional Yoga Teacher Association with the blessings of Honorable Chairman Dr R. Shivakumar, Chairman – Trichy and Ramapuram campus and the guidance of Dr A. Jesudoss Dean of TSRMMCHRC, Trichy.
The inaugural function was resumed thereby welcome address given by Dr L. Manivannan Head, Physical Education and Yoga the keynote address was deliberated by Dr S. Ragupathy, Executive Director (campus) and Dr Nachal Annamalai, Professor and Head of Physiology felicitated.
Overall, 1150 students have participated from 41 different schools located at Trichy, Karur, Perambalur and Ariyalur district. The participants were divided based on their class (from Standard 3 to 12 and then the competitions were conducted. Siramani J. Chandrasekaran and with his 19 team members assessed the children’s performance and awarded. Parts of the competitions were conducted at Yoga lab located in the III floor of Medical College block.
Four prizes (Winning shield and certificate) were awarded to each class and the prizes were distributed during the valedictory programme. The lunch and refreshments for the students and staff members were provided.
The valedictory function was felicitated by Dr M. Madhavan, Founder – Vivekananda Yoga Therapy Centre, Karur and President – TNPQYTA and distributed winning shields and certificates
