Report on the meeting organized by IMA, SRM Irungalur Branch
The Indian Medical Association (IMA), SRM Irungalur Branch has organized an educational programme to faculty, residents, students of health science (Medical, Nursing & AHS), Staff Nurses and Blood Bank staff on 05.12.2019 at 2.00 pm in Dr.B.C.Roy Conference Hall.
The title of the lecture was “Rational use of Blood and Blood Components” by Dr.Uma Maheswaran, Senior Blood Bank Medical Officer, Institute of Social Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Government KGH for Women and Children, attached to Stanley Medical College, Triplicane, Chennai. Under the chairmanship of Dr.R.Shivakumar, Honourable Chairman of SRM Institutions, Trichy and Ramapuram Campus.
The programme commenced after a formal procedure of IMA. The speaker delivered the talk in an interactive manner and sensitize the participants. The highlights of the lecture are:
a)Usage of Blood Components
b)Avoidance of Single Unit Transfusion
c)Documentation of Transfusion reactions and intervention with appropriate measures.
e)Meticulous care while doing blood grouping and cross-matching.
f)Be conscious of transfusion-transmitted infections at all times.
The meeting was adjourned at 3.00 pm with a vote of thanks.
